Young Antrim stars grace Ballybofey and Croke
Park |
|
Well done to all the young Antrim
footballers who took part in the half time game at the weekend
against their counterparts from Donegal. The talent on show was very
promising and hopefully some day some these young men will wear the
Antrim colours at senior level.
Well done to all the young Antrim hurlers
who took part in the half time game at the recent Leinster Senior
Championship game against Dublin. They will surely remember this day
for the rest of their lives playing in Croke Park. Lets hope they can
play again there in the future.

Pictures from the most
recent Annual Friendship Cumann na mBunscol Games
Some of the future
stars of Gaelic Games in Belfast and Dublin took to the field at
Casement Park on Friday 5th June, for a series of games sponsored by
Club Aontroma. This programme of games goes back to the 1930s and has
featured many children who have gone on to represent their respective
counties with distinction.
There were a sequence of competitive games with Dublin finishing on top
in camogie, hurling and girls’ football, with Belfast winning in boys’
football and handball.
The children were graced by the presence of the newly elected Lady
Mayoress of Belfast, Naomi Long, who presented medals and threw the
slíothar in to begin the hurling.
The pupils in this Cumann na mBunscol inner-city challenge displayed an
excellent array of skills and hopefully many will go on to represent
their counties in the future.

Girls Football
Leagues - round up
Nineteen teams battled it out for the last three months to decide the
destination of the Girls League trophies and as ever the standard of
football on display was excellent. The popularity of Girls Gaelic
football is continuing to grow and this was the largest number of teams
ever to have competed and they didn’t disappoint, this reflects the
Cumann na mBunscol emphasis on participation and the spirit in which the
matches were played was a credit to all participating schools. In
section A the league reached its climax with two unbeaten teams, St
Anne’s and the holders St Kieran’s meeting to decide the destination of
the title. A fantastic tussle ensued that ebbed and flowed throughout.
The children demonstrated all that is good in the game culminating in
some superb passing and wonderful scores. At the end it was St Anne’s
who came out on top which meant a new name on the cup. In section B it
was Bunscoil Phobal Feirste who were victorious, proving too powerful
for all opposition and remaining unbeaten throughout.

Welcome to the Cumann -na
mBunscol Aontroim website
that will be accessible by the teachers and pupils of the schools we
both serve and represent. We will update the site with results
which will enable schools to monitor their own progress.
We will endeavour to
make the site as user friendly as possible. Any suggestions to
improve the site are most welcome. Our Mission
In Antrim we
have a thriving and vibrant Cumann which serves almost 70 primary
schools in the county. The Cumann exists through the hard work
and efforts of teachers past and present, to ensure Gaelic sports
flourishes in the county. We want boys and
girls to participate in the full range of Gaelic games and hopefully
through our work, to enjoy the competitive yet fun aspect of sport,
to realise their own sporting potential and enjoy the honour of
representing their schools in the leagues and in inter-county
matches.
Hopefully through the
work of Cumann na mBunscol Aontroim, we
are sowing the seeds for future county successes.
